Samsung Galaxy Tab S, prices of 8.4 and 10.5-inch tablets

Samsung unveils the features of its new Galaxy Tab S tablets: here are the price and release date for the 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch versions.

Just a few hours ago, Samsung presented its brand new range of tablets to the press and industry insiders, the name of which isGalaxy Tab S.
There will be two versions available worldwide, considering the display size: they will be distributed asGalaxy Tab S 8.4-inchandGalaxy Tab S 10.5-inch.
The screen itself represents the major innovation of this new family of tablets: Samsung has indeed proposed Super AMOLED displays, specifically with a WQXGA panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
As for the rest of the technical specifications, we start by saying that they are quite similar for both versions, essentially being the same device but in different sizes.
The natively available operating system is Android Kitkat 4.4.2 with the proprietary Magazine UX interface.
The processor running these tablets is a Snapdragon 800 or a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa-core SoC with Adreno 330 GPU.
Merit is due for the 3 GB of RAM, while the internal memory is – at the buyer’s choice – either 16 GB or 32 GB; in any case, it will be possible to expand the storage capacity using microSD memory cards.
Connectivity is ensured both via Wi-Fi and mobile; in particular, you can also choose the LTE version, but the latter will be launched a few months after the release of the “basic” range of the Galaxy Tab S. The Wi-Fi only tablets will arrive – starting from the US distribution – during July, while tablets with a 4G LTE module are expected to be officially available no earlier than September.
Returning to the technical configuration, the presence of two cameras is noteworthy: the main one is 8 megapixels, while the secondary one is 2.1 megapixels.

From the perspective of design and at the same time of handling and usability, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S boasts reduced dimensions and elegance. The thickness is indeed only 6.6 millimeters, with a weight of 294 grams for the 8-inch version and 498 grams for the 10.5-inch model.
The battery also comes in two different capacities: 4,900 mAh for the 8-inch tablet and 7,900 mAh for its “bigger brother”.
Two particularly noteworthy features are available across the entire range: the presence of a fingerprint reader to activate the tablet and, importantly, to automatically proceed with PayPal payments.
The other noteworthy feature is the possibility of receiving phone calls, as it is possible to initiate synchronization with your Samsung smartphone, thanks to the “SideSync 3.0” functionality.
Similarly, but via “Remote PC”, the tablet can be “paired” with a PC so you can control a desktop computer with the device as well.
The available colors will be Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White, but Samsung has already announced a specific line of accessories for the new Galaxy Tab S tablets, allowing you to personalize the devices with colorful covers and, for example, Bluetooth keyboards.
Regarding the “price” of purchasing these tablets, at the moment we can only provide information relevant to the US market, awaiting data for Europe as well.
Galaxy Tab S 8.4-inch will cost $399, whileGalaxy Tab S 10.5-inchwill cost $499.
