Panasonic Lumix GF5 is the new mirrorless from Panasonic, just launched. Its features and price attract interest.
Panasonic has just unveiled a new camera, belonging to the segment defined as “mirrorless“: it is the Panasonic Lumix GF5.
The design impresses with its rounded lines that allow plenty of space for elegance and simplicity.
The camera body – made of lightweight aluminum – is pleasing both to the eye and to the touch.
Built into it is a touchscreen that also serves the function of any dials, here minimized to the bare essentials, replaced instead by discreet buttons and by everything that can be made functional through a dedicated command activated by touching the 3-inch display with a resolution of 920,000 dots.
As for the sensor chosen for this camera, particularly suitable for those who want to take a step beyond simple entry-level compacts, we have a 12.1 Megapixel Live MOS which works with the image processor called “Venus Engine VII HD2” with Multi-process Noise Reduction, highly energy-efficient.
Images are quite sharp and with reduced noise compared to the previous model in the same category, thanks also to the ISO range extended to 12,800.
As is now standard for any camera, the Panasonic Lumix GF5 also allows video recording: in this case Full HD 1920 x 1080 videos can be obtained in AVCHD / MP4 formats.
On the top of the camera, there is a retractable built-in TTL flash.
The lens can be easily changed in seconds and is also compatible with the entire Micro Four Thirds range.
The shooting speed has also been greatly improved, allowing high-definition burst shots at 4 frames per second.
All of this is packed into 267 grams (battery and SD card included), compressed into 107.7 x 66.6 x 36.8 mm.
Regarding the price of the Panasonic Lumix GF5, there has not yet been an official price list released for Italy but according to rumors, it should be around the American prices, so just under 600 dollars approximately including the 14-42 mm lens.
