Nokia Lumia 900: news from CES 2012

Nokia has just unveiled the Nokia Lumia 900, a new Windows Phone smartphone packed with great technical features. Here’s a summary.

The CES 2012 has started and Nokia immediately took advantage of it to present its new smartphone, the successor to the Lumia 800: it is called Nokia Lumia 900 and it is a Windows Phone.
The display is quite large, it’s a 4.3-inch Amoled ClearBlack, useful for easily viewing web pages and also convenient for video calls.
At the heart of the Nokia Lumia 900 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.4 GHz processor that constantly interacts with the Windows Phone Mango operating system..
Thus, it is a continuation of what Lumia 800 revealed, but in this case, the dimensions are much larger.
Regarding the two cameras, both utilize Carl Zeiss optics: the main one – which also allows for HD video recording at 720p – is 8 megapixels (like the iPhone 4S), while the front one – useful for video calls – is 1.3 megapixels.
The RAM is 512 MB while the storage space available to the user is 16 GB.
As for the connectivity, the modules 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are present.
Supporting such a powerful processor and high-speed connectivity is an 1830 mAH battery.
Nothing is known about the price of the Nokia Lumia 900: no figure has been announced in this regard during the press conference, nor is it known when it will arrive on the European market (an update on the price, officially confirmed on February 27th and the release period in Italy has been provided at the end of the article).
What is certain is that the Nokia Lumia 900 will initially be available only in the United States and will be released for exclusive sale to AT&T, at least in the first months of commercialization.
However, it seems very likely that in Europe the new Nokia smartphone will not be tied to any mobile operator.

Nokia seems no longer willing to waste time in the race to release new devices, expanding both the range of high-end smartphones, and the more popular one, given the attention paid to users with reduced budgets through the presentation, for example, of the Nokia Asha 200, a dual SIM phone on sale for 99 euros, already on offer in various online stores.

UPDATE OF FEBRUARY 27TH: Nokia Lumia 900 will arrive in Italy in the third quarter of 2012.
