Nintendo 3DS XL arrives: the popular console gets bigger, expanding the screen and innovating in some other aspects.

Nintendo has just announced the release of a new gaming console: the Nintendo 3DS XL will arrive in stores on July 28th.
The foundation is naturally that of the Nintendo 3DS, but the novelty lies in the fact that both screens have changed in size, becoming larger.
The display positioned on the top of the console will indeed be 4.88 inches, while the touchscreen on the bottom will be 4.18 inches. This represents a size increase of around 90% compared to the “base” version.
Another advantage of the new screens is the adoption of a material that significantly reduces reflections.
Consequently, the chassis will also undergo changes, as will the overall weight, which will increase by a total of 100 grams in the XL version.
A plus point is the enhanced battery life: it is natural that larger screens require more energy resources, so the new battery will allow for an autonomy of up to 6.5 hours, instead of 3.5 hours as previously.
Speaking of power, here comes the first downside: the power adapter will not be included in the sales package.
It seems, therefore, that the company presumes that buyers will already own a Nintendo 3DS or will be encouraged to seek out the accessory, to be paid for extra.
A 4 GB memory card is included in the package, however.
The release of the Nintendo 3DS XL will occur first in Europe and Japan, and only subsequently in the United States and the rest of the world.
As for the price of the Nintendo 3DS XL, it has not yet been officially announced, but it is estimated to be around 199 euros.
