New digital SLRNikon D850, the perfect combination of resolution, speed, and light sensitivity. Let’s take a closer look.
From studio photography to sports photography, and even reportage in the most remote places on Earth, the new full-frame Nikon FX format DSLR offers not only high performance, but also brings photographic excellence to a completely new level.
Whether it’s wildlife, sports, commercial, wedding, or fashion photography, or shooting videos, the D850 offers photographers working in highly competitive fields the creative flexibility needed to excel. The fast sensor in 45.7-megapixel full-frame FX format high resolution is built with “gapless on-chip” microlens technology which, together with the benefits of CMOS backside illumination, delivers exceptional detail sharpness along with incredible dynamic range. The continuous shooting speed of 7 fps can be increased up to 9 fps by adopting the optional MB-D18 multi power battery pack.MB-D18With the D850, videomakers can record full-frame movies in 4K without a crop factor: this expands the possibilities when seeking wide angles of view with bright NIKKOR prime lenses. Additionally, it is possible to record accelerated 4K time-lapse movies directly “on camera.”NIKKOR Additionally, it is possible to record time-lapse movies directly “on camera.”
Other new features, enabling maximum flexibility, include RAW capture in three different sizes: large, medium, or small; the Silent Photography mode, which allows for ultra-sharp, high-resolution shooting free from the noise/mechanical disturbance of the shutter; the AF Pinpoint mode, available in Live View, with which autofocus can be made more accurate and selective as required, for example, in macro photography.
Furthermore, the Nikon D850 is the first digital SLR camera of all time to offer “focus-stacking” mode “on camera”, which allows for a series of sequential shots of the same scene, but with the focus plane moved incrementally. This mode is particularly useful in macro photography, when the close subject distance narrows the depth of field to a few millimeters, but also for artistic representations of natural landscapes to be enhanced by extreme depth of field.
Features of the Nikon D850
Resolution: 45.7 megapixel of effective resolution. 45.4 MP files rich in detail. Full-frame Nikon FX back-illuminated CMOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter.
Speed: 7 fps or 9 fps when using the optional MB-D18 multi-power battery pack (with EN-EL18B battery inserted).
ISO light sensitivity: the powerful Nikon EXPEED 5 image processor delivers extraordinarily sharp images in the ISO 64-25,600 range, expandable from ISO 32 to 102,400 (equivalent). The full ISO range is also available for 4K video recording.
Precision: the same phenomenal 153-point Autofocus system as the top-of-the-line Nikon D5, offers sensitivity down to -4EV at the center point (ISO 100, 20 °C). Metering down to -3EV allows for precise automatic exposures even in conditions where the only light source is moonlight.
Crop-free 4K videos: records full-frame 4K/UHD 30p movies, with no crop factor limitations. Using the MB-D18 multi-power battery pack, the camera can record (not simultaneously) for over three hours.
4K Time-lapse movies directly “on camera” but not only: in addition to these, the Nikon D850 uses its 45.7 effective megapixels to create spectacular 8K time-lapse movies in post-production.
Flexibility for RAW format: shoot in 45.4 MP (large size), 25.6 MP (medium size), or 11.4 MP (small size) RAW format.
In any environment: thanks to its robust camera body, ready to face any weather condition, the Nikon D850 is ready to shoot in any extreme environment. The same backlighting of each button seen on the Nikon D5 ensures maximum ease of use even in the dead of night.
Fast storage: the dual memory card slot unit allows the use of one SD UHS-II and one XQD, for very fast file saving.
