Emergency operations require constant high-speed broadband coverage, a requirement that traditional cells cannot always meet. Insufficient range, gaps in coverage, and a lack of prioritization in network usage can collectively make the intervention of first responders less efficient and less safe.

LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Network Infrastructure by Motorolais a portable, small-footprint, full-power system that can be transported in a briefcase, backpack, or vehicle so that public safety organizations can bring broadband with them or deploy it at a fixed location.

Motorola Solutions’ most compact, lightweight, and fully operational LTE network is based on a platform that combines an eNodeB (eNB) and an Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The portable infrastructure creates an on-demand LTE area with coverage up to one kilometer that can provide access to up to 100 users. With activation times of less than five minutes, first responders can immediately rely on secure LTE coverage and the capacity they need, anywhere and anytime.

LXN500 with Wi-Fi is a self-contained LTE network that can also incorporate software applications such as mapping, messaging, and video streaming to locate field assets during emergencies and enable seamless collaboration. The compact design, with an IP54 protection rating, is designed for harsh environments and can withstand heat, cold, rain, and other adverse conditions that first responders encounter.

Motorola TREM

Motorola also introduced TREM, a new integrated solution for Motorola Solutions’ LXN 500, provided by partner RED Technologies. The TREM Solution enables efficient deployment of mission-critical mobile radio coverage for public safety and military forces. TREM offers real-time radio coverage mapping, monitors connectivity, and manages radio interference during crisis situations. Additionally, it will integrate Licensed Shared Access for the deployment of public safety radio networks within commercial networks when additional frequencies and prioritized access to services are required.

“If, for example, a wildfire breaks out or another emergency occurs in a remote area, fire and police units can use LXN 500 to quickly establish LTE coverage where needed,” explained Mark Schmidl, Vice President and General Manager, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) for Motorola Solutions. “We designed LXN 500 to meet a wide spectrum of use cases that require bringing broadband where it’s needed. With our latest generation of mission-critical broadband solutions, we aim to transform communications to ensure greater safety for first responders and the people they protect”.
