Made official yesterday, with a launch event in major cities, the LG G4 is the new “top of the range” from the South Korean company, offering many new features, from the beautiful “Quantum” display to the multiple functionalities offered by the new camera.
The highly anticipated LG G4 enters into direct competition with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Galaxy S6, and HTC M9 – in short, the best the market currently offers. The device features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core 64-bit processor with two 1.8 GHz Cortex-A57 cores and four 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. The GPU is the Adreno 418 at 660Mhz. Regarding the camera, the device is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with an F1.8 aperture and an 8MP front camera with an F2.0 aperture. The display is the absolute highlight of this powerful device; indeed, the LG G4 boasts a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS
As for the software, Android Lollipop 5.1 has become the standard for high-end smartphones. The LG G4 offers the new personalized user experience, UX 4.0, which is improved and much more intuitive. The main new features are:
- Quick Shot which allows you to take photos even without opening the camera app by double-pressing the smartphone’s rear button, even when the display is off;
- Event Pocket which allows you to create a single calendar by aggregating events, appointments, and tasks with a simple drag and drop.
- Smart Notice, not a truly new feature but significantly improved, which provides even more personalized notifications related to travel, weather, and much more. Somewhat inspired by Google Now, the app analyzes daily movements and customizes the information to notify you about.
Another interesting new feature concerns the camera management software; you can indeed take photos using a fully automatic mode or manually control every single parameter in an almost “professional” way, with the option to save in RAW format as well.
The LG G4 also impresses with its new materials and aesthetics, from leather to “contoured ceramic” and “hammered metallic” variants, and a slightly curved profile.
The dimensions are 75.3 x 149.1 x 8.9 mm, weighing 157 grams. All this power and beauty comes at a cost; the launch price of the new LG G4 is €699.60 with a leather cover included. The device should be available on the market by the beginning of June.
