The LG G Arch will be the first smartwatch produced by LG: some rumors have leaked, and talk also includes a wrist device dedicated to fitness lovers.
According to rumors disseminated by the always well-informed industry site PhoneArena, LG is on the verge of entering the smartwatch market.
It appears that LG will present its first device of this type – reportedly named LG G Arch – in the coming weeks.
Two prime opportunities could serve this purpose: CES 2014 in the United States (starting January 7, 2014) or Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona (scheduled for late February).
The LG G Arch is shaping up to be an intelligent digital wristwatch, a direct competitor to the smartwatch Samsung Galaxy Gear or the Sony Smartwatch 2.
It is unclear whether the LG G Arch will be generally compatible with Android devices or if it will interface exclusively with other LG-branded devices.
The technical specifications of this new hypothetical wearable device are unknown, but what seems certain is LG’s intention to offer something of the sort, having confirmed some time ago that smartwatches represent an area of interest for the brand.
Another rumor also speaks of a second smartwatch for LG, similar to the LG G Arch but dedicated to sports enthusiasts.
With similar characteristics, a fitness “bracelet” is also expected to be launched, thus a fitness tracker.
Its name would be LG G Health and conceptually it should not deviate much from Nike’s FuelBand.
More details will emerge in the coming weeks, and should a presentation occur at CES 2014, further official news might be released shortly.
