Leica M Monochrom, price of the black and white full frame

The Leica M Monochrom was just presented in Berlin and already stands out for being a black and white full frame. Here’s its price and features.

Leica has just introduced a unique camera that, while looking to the future and shooting digitally, possesses the characteristic of photographing in black and white.
It’s not simply about applying an effect to a taken photo: this camera is conceived precisely as a digital monochrome.
The foundation, needless to say, is the solid one provided by the historic Leica M cameras, true institutions of analog black and white photography.
The Leica tradition, therefore, continues in the digital realm and will likely be welcomed by those who love to delve deeper into the photographic process, as the camera features a rangefinder focusing system.
In terms of specifications, we find a 16.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and an ISO range that can be pushed up to 10,000.
Sharpness and brightness are assured and of the highest level, benefiting from the fact that – once the shot is taken – there is no color filter involved in the image generation process.

You can shoot directly in DNG/RAW and apply some extra effects, such as playing with sepia.
Everything is easily monitored via the screen, a 2.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 230,000 pixels.
Owners of the Leica M Monochrom will also benefit from the fact that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and the B&W Silver Efex 2 software are included in the package.
Being such a high-end and unique camera, the price of the Leica M Monochrom – it’s important to specify – is not among the cheapest: it costs $7950.
