How to find out if an iPhone has been stolen? Here is the official Apple tool, also usable for iPad and iPod Touch.
It often happens that you search online for a used iPhone or receive a sales proposal from someone. Especially when the price turns out to be too good to be true, a question should spontaneously arise: could this iPhone be stolen? To clear up any doubt in this regard, a specific tool created and made available by Apple is now here. Its name is “Activation Lock” and it allows you, in a few steps, to discover if any Apple device has been stolen or not. The first step Activation Lock takes is to check the serial number, or even better, the IMEI code. Once that’s done, it will scan using another official Apple tool, widely used to find a lost iPhone: Find My iPhone. Everything happens in a few seconds via the official page https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/, created precisely to protect those interested in a used Apple device. At the same time, this way, anyone who has lost their iOS device can discover the wrongdoing, since this tool only works actively if the device has been linked to iCloud.
It is quite obvious that, in order to verify if an iPhone is stolen or, conversely, is absolutely “clean”, you will specifically need to request at least the IMEI code from the seller. The same procedure will also work for checking iPads and iPod Touches.
