Does the iPhone 6 Plus bend when kept in a pocket? While awaiting official comments from Apple, “BendGate” erupts.
Very often, the release of new products brings with it a subsequent wave of criticism or observations from buyers.
This time too, Apple could find itself in the eye of the storm, just a few days after the presentation and sale of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
In fact, videos are circulating online showing an iPhone 6 Plus – the version of the smartphone with an extra-large display – that bends.
After being kept in the back pocket of trousers for a few hours, the device reportedly shows a excessive predisposition to flex.
The “culprit” for this phenomenon would be the aluminum that makes up the casing of the new iPhone 6 Plus.
After some tweets and some criticism bounced around online, a well-known tech blogger in the United States – Lewis Hilsenteger – decided to test if the device could actually bend so easily, creating a video. Well, indeed, the terminal did flex when prompted by the blogger.
The media buzz was immediate, climbing the ranks of the top Twitter trends with the hashtag “#BendGate“.
Official responses are now awaited from Apple, which, as of this writing, has not yet expressed any corporate stance or opinions whatsoever.
However, we learn from the digital columns of the “Business Insider” website that the Cupertino executives are reportedly considering the possibility of offering free replacements to those who show the “flexible” terminal at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store.
Will “BendGate” affect the launch sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Italy?
It should be noted, in fact, that the two new smartphones are not yet available in our country, as pre-order procedures will begin tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, 2014.
