First previews of iPhone 5 arriving from Hong Kong: apparently, companies in the supply chain that have agreements with Apple have been pre-emptively notified to start iPhone 5 production during the month of July.
Based on the average timeline observed in the past, iPhone 5 could reach American stores as early as September or, in any case, by autumn.
The sources of this techno-scoop – released by the Reuters agency – requested anonymity, as this is a project that is not yet public but has been discussed since the day after the release of iPhone 4.
Compared to its predecessor, it seems the iPhone 5 design won’t change much, while there could be pleasant surprises regarding the processor: attention is focused on speed and the possible presence of iOS5. The only presumed aesthetic modification appears to concern the back shell, this time designed in metal. We recall, in fact, that the profile of iPhone 4 proved more fragile than that of iPhone 3, not due to poor material quality but because it features a profile with a larger amount of glass.
If the iPhone 5 release is confirmed for September or, in any case, by autumn, it could be a significant coup for Apple, which, between Black Friday and the Christmas holidays, could replicate the success achieved in the same period of 2010.
