Interview with Andrea Rizzi, Country Manager of Check Point Software Italy, to discuss Security

Andrea Rizzi, Country Manager of Check Point Software Italy.

What is meant by Cybersecurity? Cybersecurity is security for all needs, for any type of user who uses IT tools (PC, data center, PDA, etc.) and for any professional environment, with the guarantee that data and documents are neither seen nor used by unauthorized persons. How does the Italian Security market present itself and what are the prospects? In Italy, the Security market in the high-end segment has experienced a slowdown, but technologies, companies, and culture related to the great network can find new vitality if the government invests decisively in research and innovation. Furthermore, regarding the “enterprise” sector, there is a slow decline in firewalls and VPNs, which instead are clearly growing in the medium business sector. What is the relationship between Italian companies and Security? Despite the different market symmetries existing in Italy, it can be stated that in general companies are very attentive to investments in the Cybersecurity sector. However, economic growth and commercial success can only be guaranteed by consolidating three factors: knowledge, competence, and investments. What is your specific field? Currently, Check Point “covers” the most important sectors of Cybersecurity with products for perimeter, internal and web security, end-point solutions, mobility protection products, intrusion detection and intrusion prevention, VPN, and firewalls. What is Check Point’s vision? We firmly believe that every Internet user should be able to use solutions that always make them feel secure. Therefore, it is essential that all protection areas, both outsourced and non-outsourced, are constantly guaranteed, managed, and integrated. Who are your competitors? In terms of protection and technological integration, we do not have significant competitors, but if we consider graduated security levels, the most notable competitors include Cisco, Symantec, and Juniper. What does Check Point offer that competitors present in Italy do not, and why choose you? Security at the highest levels, integration, and management are our differentiating points. We have created the Security standard and have expanded, over the years, our portfolio of solutions and products with constant focus on the ability to guarantee 360° Security (Total Access Protection), the same levels of security and equally competitive prices, proactive security regardless of the technology platform, both for individual users and large data centers. How did the last year go and what are your future goals? In 2005, we recorded an average growth rate of 8%, and for 2006, we expect results aligned with those of last year, with the possibility of further consolidations thanks to a renewed and favorable Italian political-economic conjuncture which in the past, instead, produced strong slowdowns.
