Instagram will soon become a service accessible from the web and no longer exclusively via app. The news will be made available starting next week.
The exponential growth of Instagram is evident to everyone: from its debut as an iOS application, it subsequently conquered Android users as well, becoming the most coveted and sought-after service by web giants.
It’s no coincidence that the company was recently acquired by Facebook and today, as we learn these very hours, it has also become the “muse” for Twitter, as it is rumored that the microblogging-based social network staff has decided to develop filters and effects to apply directly to photos to be tweeted.
The interest in image sharing is therefore blatant, and so Instagram, boosted by its success and new resources coming from Facebook, is about to take the leap towards opening its web version, effectively becoming a true social network in all respects.
With pages strongly reminiscent of the Facebook news feed, Instagram on the web will be ready soon, as early as next week.
A handful of profiles have already been “converted” and thus made available in this new version; thanks to this, it is already possible to anticipate that each user will be able to manage their own space on Instagram from the web, commenting on photos, following other users, leaving hearts (Instagram’s “Likes”), and being able to make changes to their profile.
Certainly, the service born for mobility from the outset will be able to capture desktop users as well, likely counting on an even larger subscriber base.
