Instagram also bans photos of undressed people: the new guidelines

In recent weeks, major social networks seem to have taken the same stance on a topic clearly deemed important or sensitive. It appears that a war against photos of unclothed people posted and shared with contacts has been openly declared from multiple sides. The latest news in this regard comes from Instagram.

Users registered with the social network, which is exclusively image-based, will have noticed in recent hours a change in some of the guidelines they must accept to use their account and its associated services.
Without mincing words, it states, “Don’t post content of this type,” and further specifies what is and is no longer allowed on Instagram.

Videos, photos, or other types of content showing genitals, fully exposed buttocks (thus intentionally), nipples, breasts, or sexual intercourse will not be tolerated. Supposedly artistic nude images will not be permitted, with only rare and well-qualified exceptions being accepted.
Photos of artwork (paintings, sculptures, etc.) depicting nudes may be published; images of breastfeeding mothers will also be published without issue. The same applies to photos of mastectomy scars.

There is also a chapter of particular importance that, in a sense, falls under the limitations for nude photos: Instagram’s policy regarding images of children.
Images of children who are fully or partially unclothed will not be accepted; it is explained that “…even when such content is shared with good intentions, others might use it in unexpected ways.”

In addition to explicit photos, in general, content deemed too violent and graphic will also be removed from the platform. The staff explained that even in cases where it involves footage or photos shared for informational purposes, this type of material will not be freely left online on Instagram as it could be seen by an “audience” not ready for certain images, considering that people of different ages access the social network daily.
Therefore, from today onwards, the social realm dedicated to photos will see a decisive change; the effects of this maneuver are awaited.
