In a few days, the IDC Energy & Utilities Forum will be held, a conference organized with the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and Land and Sea Protection.
Now in its sixth edition, the IDC Energy & Utilities Forum is the most important Italian event of the year for learning about and delving into the trends driving the sector’s evolution, and for specifically understanding the technological and business challenges that companies in this industry will face in the future, enabling the sharing of experiences among energy producers, distributors, traders, and utilities.
Operational efficiency control in managing the energy and water business is increasingly the focus of sector managers. Likewise, energy efficiency in the processes of rationalizing end-user consumption, reducing pollutants, and environmental sustainability remain imperatives that all companies must meet.
The day’s agenda includes a special guest: Susana Carillo Aparicio, Smartgrid Project Manager at Endesa. Through her presentation, we will discover the Smartcity projects of the cities of Malaga e Barcelona.
In the morning, a roundtable will be held titled “Cloud computing and big data: what benefits and opportunities in the Utilities sector” which will bring together the experience of five CIOs of the caliber of Gloria Gazzano from Snam, Gianluca Fusco from Edipower, Massimo Pernigotti from Edison, Giuseppe Canto from ERG Power & Gas and Luciano Caroti from Publiacqua. Among other topics, the discussion will cover the role of business analytics and trends in applications mobility and social networks.
An IDC Energy Insights study on this topic, titled “Utilities and Cloud Computing: A View From Western Europe,” was published in March 2012. All participants will have the exclusive opportunity to receive a free copy of this report, which analyzes the main phenomena, including Big Data, that are encouraging companies in the Energy & Utilities sector to adopt cloud services and provides a series of recommendations for CIOs and IT decision-makers in companies in this sector.
