Google Translate for Android Available in 14 Languages

It’s time for further development for Google Translate for Android: the real-time voice translation service expands its “language portfolio.” Following its launch, Google Translate enabled smartphones – and people – to converse in Spanish and English.
From today onwards, this capability is being extended: although updates for the 50 languages discussed at its inception are not yet ready, Google Translate now understands the vocabulary of 14 languages.
Simply open the dedicated app, click on “Conversation Mode,” and speak the phrase of interest into the microphone. At this point, Google Translate will process the same phrase, translated into the selected language.
This way, our conversation partner can reply, and this voice translation system will handle the rest. Besides “speaking,” it will also display the translated phrase on the screen, making it readable. Similarly, our phrase to be translated will also appear, allowing for any corrections that will become part of Google Translate’s “acquired baggage,” aiming for increasingly precise and accurate translations over time.
However, you’ll need to pronounce words and phrases clearly and distinctly, trying to avoid background noise.
Google Translate can be used on tablets and smartphones with Android 2.2 and later; the relevant app is already available on the Android Market.
Before presenting an explanatory video on using Google Translate for Android, here is the list of currently supported languages:
