Google Music, invitations and beta for online music

Google Music beta is ready, founded on a cloud-based platform and currently accessed via invitations. Google Music appears to be the most concrete and articulated alternative to Apple’s iTunes, at least in intent. Let’s discover more, also thanks to a Google Music presentation video.

Google‘s tentacles are slowly spreading into various sectors, and after presenting Google Shopping, today it’s the turn of the music industry: the Google Music service has been launched, currently still in beta and only available in the United States.
The hunt for Google Music invitations has already begun; it’s a cloud-based system, therefore usable from any device, at any time.
The official announcement was made a few hours ago, during the Google I/O conference, accompanied by a Google Music presentation video.
This new service allows users to synchronize their music collection with Android devices, making everything very lightweight: first and foremost, for now, Google Music is available for streaming, as there are no agreements in place with record labels yet to allow free or paid downloads.
Therefore, what is already possible is the creation of music collections simply by using one’s own Google account; furthermore, it’s possible to upload songs to one’s profile.
More than an online music store, Google Music is actually a universe of music in the cloud that gathers our favorite songs, avoiding the need to carry them around and thus saving space on smartphones, PCs, tablets, notebooks, etc…
In practice, we could equate Google Music to a virtual MP3 player with infinite memory, always available for listening and for indicating one’s preferences.
The Google team has stated that content violating copyright will be removed, but they have not specified how or with what timeline.
Here is the Google Music presentation video.
