Google scores another important acquisition: the purchase of Waze is official. Google Maps will be enriched with new details.
Google marks another step towards enriching the functionality of its maps: the news of Waze’s acquisition by the Mountain View giant has indeed become official.
Waze is an application developed by the eponymous Israeli startup, specializing in GPS navigation.
Waze will therefore integrate Google Maps, providing significant data on road traffic conditions.
In essence, a real-time GPS navigator capable of analyzing traffic jams and slowdowns and suggesting the best routes to reach the indicated destination.
From the headquarters of the company just acquired by Google, it is stated that there will be no changes in the corporate structure or the organization of the community: everything will continue as usual, including the presence of development labs in Israel and not in Google offices.
After all, Google also promises not to revolutionize the service, maintaining the original characteristics of Waze and its large community as they are today.
Waze indeed boasts a decidedly substantial user base, consisting of 40 million users who enable real-time service updates.
The financial details of Google’s acquisition of Waze are not known at all, but according to rumors, the figure involved is around one million dollars, tending towards one and a half million.
Soon, therefore, Google Maps will become, in a sense, more interactive and very useful for monitoring traffic on roads of interest: an even more complete tool for the mobile user experience.
