Furthermore, FUJIFILM X-T3 is the world’s first APS-C mirrorless camera capable of recording in 4K/60P 10-bit to meet the needs of professional filmmakers
FUJIFILM X-T3is the latest model in the X Series, the range of digital mirrorless cameras renowned for its exclusive color reproduction technology, capable of delivering exceptional image quality, both in photos and videos. The features implemented in this model take the X Series to a higher level in both photography and video shooting. The X-T3 presents itself as the ideal camera in any photographic sector, particularly for sports, and is also a powerful and versatile tool in the hands of videographers and filmmakers. The latter will find in a compact and affordably priced system all the highest performance features that allow for the creation of professional video products. Furthermore, combined with the MKX lenses, recognized for their extraordinary quality, the X-T3 allows you to achieve cinematic-level results.
The X Series was born in 2011 with the X100 model. The X-Pro1, launched in 2012, was the first mirrorless camera that incorporated the X-Trans CMOS sensor and the EXR Professor Pro image processing engine compatible with the sensor and which used an exclusive color filter array based on FUJIFILM’s extensive photographic experience, capable of achieving exceptional performance in image resolution and false color control. For seven years the X Series has continued to evolve, and today FUJIFILM X-T3 inaugurates its fourth generation.
X-Trans CMOS 4 is a back-illuminated APS-C sensor and compared to current models it features over 4 times the number of phase detection pixels distributed across the entire surface. It boasts a high S/N ratio and the lowest native sensitivity of ISO160, despite its 26MP resolution. The autofocus limit in low light conditions has also been extended to -3 EV, allowing for more precise focusing.
X Processor 4 has 4 CPUs to achieve an image processing speed approximately 3 times faster than current models. The processor is the world’s first to provide 4K/60P 10-bit output in a mirrorless camera equipped with an APS-C size sensor or larger, meeting the needs of professional filmmakers. It is also capable of instantly handling complex image processing tasks such as FUJIFILM’s exclusive “Color Chrome Effect” and “Monochrome Adjustment” functions, achieving Warm Black/Cool Black tone digitally.
X-T3 fully leverages the capability of these fourth-generation devices by providing a significant improvement in performance.
– Higher image quality: noise level is kept low, despite the higher resolution achieved by the new APS-C sensor.
– Significantly improved AF performance: 1.5x faster processing speed compared to current models to deliver faster and more accurate AF, and substantially improved performance in face/eye detection AF focusing thanks to 2.16M phase detection pixels distributed across the entire frame.
– Significant improvement in fast-moving subject tracking performance: continuous shooting without blackout up to 30 fps while using the electronic viewfinder at 60 fps to track the subject.
– Professional video performance: support for simultaneous internal SD card recording at 4K/60P 4:2:0 10-bit and 4:2:2 10-bit 4K/60P HDMI output. Additionally, the “ETERNA” film simulation mode, specific for video shooting, already implemented in the X-H1, and the useful Zebra function that highlights overexposed areas during shooting are available.

Main Features FujiFilm X-T3
Fourth-generation technology
X-T3 features the fourth-generation X-Trans CMOS 4 APS-C sensor, 26.1MP, without a low-pass filter. It uses the exclusive color filter array used in X-Trans CMOS sensors to control moiré and false colors and adopts the series’ first back-illuminated structure to improve image resolution without compromising the S/N ratio. Furthermore, the 160 ISO sensitivity, previously only available as extended ISO, is now part of the normal ISO range. It is very useful in outdoor daylight conditions or when trying to achieve bokeh with a very bright lens.
X-T3 uses the new X-Processor 4 image processing engine that has enabled the addition of the new “Monochromatic Adjustment” function to FUJIFILM’s film simulation modes. Warm black and cool black, conventionally achieved with a choice of photographic papers and specific developers, have been faithfully reproduced digitally to expand the scope of monochrome expressions. This function is available in the standard “Monochrome” mode and in the “ACROS” mode, which provides soft mid-tones, deep blacks, and beautiful textures.
The “Color Chrome” effect, previously only present in the FUJIFILM GFX50S medium format mirrorless digital camera, is now available for the first time in the X Series with the X-T3 model. The effect produces deeper colors and gradations in subjects with highly saturated colors, such as brightly colored flowers with shadows, a subject notoriously difficult to reproduce. The high processing power of the new X-Processor 4 allows this effect to be applied even in continuous shooting as well as in single shooting.
Improved AF performance.
X-Trans CMOS 4 offers 2.16M phase detection pixels, more than 4 times that of current models*3, increasing the phase detection AF area and covering the entire frame (approx. 100%).
The fast and accurate phase detection AF can also be used on a subject located away from the center of the frame. The phase detection autofocus limit in low light conditions has also been extended by about 2 stops from -1EV to -3EV, making it possible to focus accurately in low light conditions, such as in a candlelit or night scene. Furthermore, the high processing speed and improved phase detection algorithm of X-Processor 4 allow AF and AE (light metering) to be performed 1.5 times more frequently than current models*3 to allow accurate autofocus even in sports photography with fast and irregular moving subjects across the entire frame.
Moving object face detection AF performance has been improved compared to current models*3. Eye detection AF supports AF-C mode, maintaining accurate focus tracking even in portrait photography with a moving subject or when photographed from the side. Face and eye detection AF is also available during video recording for very smooth shots.
Furthermore, even in MF mode, an improvement has been introduced: in addition to the “Focus Peak Highlight” function, a “Microprism” mode has been added for more effective manual focusing.
Advanced viewfinder performance.
X-T3 is equipped with a high-resolution 3.69 million dot EVF with a high magnification ratio of 0.75x. The display lag of only 0.005 seconds and an approx.100 fps refresh rate ensure smooth display of movements, allowing for precise identification of subject movements and focus positions. Unlike current models*3, continuous shooting at 11 fps with the mechanical shutter no longer requires the optional vertical grip, allowing for fast continuous shooting while keeping the camera’s weight low.
The new “Sports Finder Mode” allows you to easily capture a moving subject. The mode displays an area of approx. 16.6M (1.25x crop) on the LCD and in the viewfinder, marking it with a frame, and captures only the portion of the image within it. This is particularly useful for sports and wildlife photography, as you can check the movements of a subject just outside the shooting frame and benefit from a shorter-than-usual blackout time.
The increased sensor readout speed and high-speed processing capability have made it possible to enjoy AF/AE tracking even in continuous shooting mode without blackout up to 30 fps in 16.6M (1.25x crop) mode, while using the electronic viewfinder to track the subject. Rolling shutter distortion, a typical problem with electronic shutters, has been halved compared to current models.
To never miss the perfect shot, the X-T3 features the new “Pre-Shoot” function, where the camera starts shooting as soon as the shutter button is pressed halfway. This makes it impossible to miss an important photographic opportunity, as could happen previously due to the time delay between pressing the shutter button fully and the photo being actually taken.
Improved video performance
This is the first APS-C mirrorless digital camera capable of recording to an internal SD card in 4K/60P 4:2:0 10-bit. It is also the world’s first mirrorless digital camera with an APS-C or larger sensor capable of producing 4K/60P 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output. Supported video formats include the widely used H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and H.265/HEVC for higher data compression. This allows the use of a high bitrate up to 200 Mbps when recording 4K/60P 4:2:0 10-bit, as well as simultaneous recording to HDMI output. Available video compression options are ALL-Intra and Long GOP. When using ALL-Intra, video is recorded at 400 Mbps.
The sensor readout speed is approximately 50% faster than current models, allowing a fast readout of 17 msec for 4K/60P video. Rolling shutter distortion has been reduced for smooth playback of fast-moving subjects. The camera’s support for 10-bit color depth increases the amount of color information by 64 times compared to 8-bit. This is combined with a dynamic range of 400% (approx. 12 stops) for capturing subjects rich in gradation, such as a sunset landscape.
The introduction of a new noise reduction process and the new “4K interframe noise reduction” function have reduced noise by approximately 2 stops. The new NR process has an advanced level of noise identification accuracy that allows for high noise reduction performance. The 4K interframe NR function uses differential data between adjacent frames to reduce noise. Furthermore, the minimum sensitivity for F-Log and DR400% footage shooting has been extended from ISO800 of current models to ISO640, meeting the needs of videographers.
In addition to the above-mentioned functions, following a firmware update to be released by the end of 2018, the X-T3 will support Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) video recording, one of the formats defined in the international standard ITU-R BT.2100. In response to user requests, the firmware update will allow the X-T3 to simultaneously generate film simulation and F-Log footage.
Design, operability, and expandability.
X-T3 inherits the distinctive design of the X-T2, such as the placement of dials on the top panel, the central viewfinder for a greater sense of stability, and an excellent grip for maximum comfort. The Silver color is standard and presents a more classic tone than the graphite version, offered in a limited edition in previous models. Its style is combined with extraordinary practicality, making this camera an indispensable tool for enthusiasts and professionals.
X-T3 offers several improvements, implemented thanks to user feedback, which have significantly enhanced its operability.
