Facebook Introduces Reactions Button, the “New” Like – Dislike

A new button is coming to Facebook: it’s “Reactions,” partially replacing “Like.”

A significant change is arriving on Facebook in the coming hours. Certain user groups will begin to see the new “Reactions” button, a strong signal that the Facebook team had promised and has now implemented. Some time ago, we announced the upcoming possibility to express “dislikes” towards status updates, photos, and links shared on the social network. It was repeatedly mentioned that a solution beyond the simplistic thumbs-down was being sought, and now news has arrived. Alongside the “Like” button, six new options for a concise “reaction” to one’s feelings on Facebook will be available. Simply hovering the cursor over the classic thumb we’ve become accustomed to over the years will reveal six additional moods. A heart icon and five different emoticons will be available, allowing for a “graphical” expression of the idea you want to convey to the person who published the status. Rather than a “Dislike” button, the Facebook team has developed a true extension of the “Like.”

To begin the testing phase of this brand-new functionality, for once, the decision was not to start with the vast audience in the United States. This time, the focus has been on two European countries: the first users to experience the new Facebook Reactions opportunities will be Spanish and Irish members. It is not yet possible to know when the new expanded button will be available in Italy.
