The messaging system Facebook Messenger is enriched with a new feature: voice messages. But soon you will also be able to make free phone calls.
In the last few weeks Facebook has been releasing a number of significant new features in the use of its services: the latest, in chronological order, concerns Facebook Messenger.
The instant messaging service has indeed been updated today and users have therefore been able to ascertain that a new feature has been added: the ability to send and receive voice messages.
The new feature is therefore effective as of today, working on both Android and iOS.
At the moment, the maximum duration of voice messages that can be sent is up to one minute, but it is not excluded that in the future the multimedia content that can be sent to contacts may be extended.
That’s not all: it is learned that the Facebook team is also experimenting with a VoIP system that would effectively compete directly with Skype or Viber, remaining in the field of applications designed for smartphones and tablets.
According to what is learned from the pages of the Wall Street Journal, the first to enjoy the possibility of making free calls via Facebook are currently only some Canadian users who have iOS devices.
Subsequently, and based on the results obtained from the experiments, the expansion of this possibility for all subscribers will proceed.
This is also clear because on the update available today for everyone, the wording already reads: Call your friends for free directly from Messenger“, so in the coming weeks the functionality will be fully introduced.
Facebook has long been proceeding at a rapid pace in providing as many services as possible to its users, in order to
retain them within its platform for longer, without diversions to other communication services. of Facebook was actually lacking in terms of audio note sharing.
However, the gap has now been closed, with the promise of the introduction of free calls.
