Drupal 7 is ready for download. The final version of Drupal 7 has therefore been released with an official announcement from the international Drupal community, united with the Drupal Association.
Drupal 7 is released today, currently available for download. Drupal 7 arrives after months of testing and refinements, thanks to the support of about a thousand Drupal community members who contributed to writing the Drupal 7 core.
What are the features of Drupal 7?
First, it’s possible to easily migrate from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7, thanks to the Update and Migration Manager.
Numerous improvements have also been made to the user interface: smarter default settings, simplified common tasks and administration. There’s also a testing environment to ensure long-term stability, and the ability to customize fields in the core. It includes support for translations, advanced caching, and integrated master-slave replication.
Fully in line with the apparent direction of major search engines, Drupal 7 features native semantic technologies RDFa, precisely aimed at the semantic web. This way, search engines will automatically have data extracted from inherent semantic metadata.
Drupal 7 will be officially presented with a series of Drupal 7 launch parties to be held worldwide on January 7, 2011.
