ProntoPro presents a tool that helps to understand what has happened so far, in support of future decisions for Italian politicians and legislators, but also for companies and decision-makers in other nations affected by the Coronavirus emergency.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the government to impose increasing restrictions on economic activity, putting our community of over 600,000 professionals and service businesses in great difficulty.– saysMarco Ogliengo, CEO and co-founder of ProntoPro. “We hope that sharing our data will help Italian politicians and policymakers quantify the economic impact of the pandemic and the resulting restrictive measures, also in order to evaluate possible support for the sector.– continues Ogliengo –We also trust that it will be useful for companies and politicians in other nations that are implementing similar measures, to improve their planning.“.

ProntoPro.it, the number one platform in Italy for the supply and demand of professional services, is making public the data from its database on the impact that Coronavirus containment measures are having on the services market. It has analyzed its data, correlating it with increasing government restrictions, and will continue to update it weekly until the emergency ends.

By accessing the dedicated page, it is possible to verify the consequences that anti-Coronavirus restrictions are having on a very diverse sample of workers employed in over 500 categories of services, from plumbers to lawyers, including psychologists, painters, electricians, and personal trainers. The percentage change is calculated by comparing the number of service requests received on ProntoPro weekly with the requests collected in the week before the emergency, from February 17th to 23rd. Variations are filterable by region and show the weekly trend for each service category.

At the end of the fifth week of restrictions, the professional services market records a 61% drop in demand. The most affected sectors are those related to event and party organizers: requests for wedding planners, catering services, DJs, and bands have practically vanished. Professions related to personal well-being and training are also experiencing a significant decline, with a decrease in requests for nutritionists, personal trainers, as well as language courses and school tutoring. On this front, ProntoPro is supporting its professionals to enable them, where possible, to continue providing their services remotely and online.
