The “Cloud Symposium 2011” will take place on September 21st in Milan at the Meliá Hotel, via Masaccio 19. The conference begins at 9:00 AM and will conclude around 5:20 PM.
The conference, which includes an exhibition area, aims to address the topic of the Cloud and its evolution with a strongly practical approach.
Many case studiesfollow each other during the day, including the project of private Cloud by La Perla presented by Gianluca Guidotti, ICT Corporate Manager and E-Commerce of the Company and the presentation by Marco Staiti, ICT Manager, of SOGEGROSS.
The Keynote speaker of the day is Henry D. Morris, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Software and Services Research at IDC USA, who offers a scenario and a series of best practices on the theme: “Transformation through Cloud, Social, Mobile, and Big Data”.
Furthermore, lawyers Lorenzo de Martinis and Francesca Gaudino of Baker McKenzie delve into the legal aspects for efficient management of the relationship with the Cloud provider, such as defining the contract, risk factors, and data security in the Cloud, and the regulation of data flow and sub-processors.
The first round table of the morning “Cloud Governance: organizational changes, data, security, outsourcing” aims to explore the following topics:
• A new IT-LOB dialogue? How are roles and responsibilities identified for a Cloud strategy?
• How is a Cloud Steering Committee organized?
• How do expectations on company information security and governance change for a Cloud environment?
• What are the objectives for outsourcing models in a Cloud context? Tactical or strategic transformations?
In the second round table, dedicated to Cloud Migration Strategies, the following topics are analyzed:
• Which models prevail for which IT systems: public Cloud, private Cloud, hybrid;
• How is the use of internal vs. external resources evaluated?
• Integration and synergies with existing IT infrastructure: from managing heterogeneous “IT environments” to managing heterogeneous “IT models”;
• Portfolio rationalization: which applications and workloads did you start with?
• Beyond technology: examples of Service Provider contributions to the IT Transformation process towards the Cloud.
In the last part of the day, participants take part in the Focus Groups, interactive meetings in which to compare, exchange experiences, and debate with IDC analysts and experts from leading market companies.
