Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200: Casio’s New Flagship

The Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200 is the standout novelty in Casio’s photographic department: here are its features revealed at CES 2012.

The first word that spontaneously comes to mind when associating with the Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200 is “speed”.
Taking a look at the technical specifications of this new camera, it’s immediately clear that much attention has been paid to speed: from startup (less than a second, according to Casio’s measurements) to autofocus.
The Casio EX-ZR200 features a 24mm wide-angle lens and a 12.5x optical zoom, capable of delivering super wide-angle images by simulating focal lengths up to 14mm.
The heart of the camera is the EXILIM Engine HS, which enables excellent performance even with burst shooting: it’s the processor that promises great speed in every shooting situation, and even in the most basic operations, such as startup.
It is also possible to shoot high-resolution Full HD movies while simultaneously capturing 16-megapixel high-resolution photos.

For those who love artistic photos, the Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200 offers Casio’s HDR-ART function: simply select the option and press the shutter button to capture subjects that will stand out in the foreground, perhaps with a blurred background.
The mode is fully automatic, but more experienced users can also experiment with manual mode to further personalize their photos.
At the moment, the price of the Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200 is not yet known, while for colors, black, white, blue, and red (which actually appears more like a bright pink, almost fuchsia) are confirmed to be available in Italy as well.
