The new smartphone produced by BlackBerry is called BlackBerry Classic. Main feature: the QWERTY keyboard, again.
BlackBerry returns to the spotlight in the smartphone market, and it does so with a certain surprise.
After the latest models presented in recent months, the company has apparently decided to venture into the past once again, betting once more on a device with a physical QWERTY keyboard.
The name chosen for the new smartphone is BlackBerry Classic, and thus the return to its origins is already understandable from the adjective selected to characterize this model to the public.
So, after the attempt to position a full-touch phone well in the market and the very recent launch of the BlackBerry Passport – with screen dimensions that are decidedly original for a smartphone – here the company has decided to reinstate the good old, never-forgotten physical QWERTY keyboard.
This time too, the design work was carried out with the needs of business customers in mind before consumer ones.
Let’s get to the main technical features of the BlackBerry Classic: the screen is not excessively large, precisely because space is needed for the keyboard. The specifications therefore include a 3.46-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels.
As for the operating system, it is BlackBerry 10 OS, which runs on a dual-core Qualcomm processor at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, with Adreno 225. The supporting RAM is 2 GB, while the available internal memory is 16 GB, with the possibility of expansion via microSD card.
The camera system consists of two cameras: the main one is 8 megapixels, while the secondary one is 2 megapixels.
A note should be made regarding the microphone of this smartphone: precisely to provide a good product for the business sector, the device is equipped with three microphones. This means that conversations will be clearer even when you are in particularly noisy environments.
All of this is supported by a 2515 mAh battery.
The price of the BlackBerry Classic will be around $450 for its sale in the United States. A probable arrival date on the European market has not yet been officially announced, so the price of the BlackBerry for Italy is unknown.
