A maxi tablet designed for family use is arriving: its name is Archos FamilyPad. Here’s a summary of its features and the recommended retail price.
Archos announces the upcoming arrival in stores of a new tablet, designed to meet the needs of the entire family: it’s called Archos FamilyPad.
What immediately strikes you is certainly its size: the display is 13.3 inches, thus presenting a 34-centimeter diagonal.
It’s a capacitive multitouch that allows recognition of up to 10 fingers simultaneously, and its resolution is 1280×800, in HD.
As for other technical specifications, the Archos FamilyPad features a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, with 1 GB of RAM and a single internal memory option, precisely 8 GB. The latter can be easily expanded via a microSD card.
The native operating system is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and regarding the camera setup, the maxi tablet has two cameras, each of 2 megapixels. Perhaps on this aspect, one might have expected something more.
As for family features, games run quite well, many of which are presented as genuine board games, taking advantage of the fact that challengers can position themselves around the four sides of the large display.
It’s worth noting the possibility of using the organizer in a shared manner, to form a real family agenda.
The price of the Archos FamilyPad is 299 euros, as recommended by the company itself. Its arrival in stores is expected during the month of December.
