Apple buys Beats, acquisition officialized

Beats Electronics has been officially acquired by Apple: the Cupertino-based company itself announced it.

A few days ago, numerous online rumors about a possible acquisition of Beats Electronics by Apple gained momentum.
The news has now found official confirmation, as the Cupertino-based company has issued a press release also revealing the financial details of the operation.
Beats is a well-known company in the sound and music sector because its headphones have become a sort of status symbol in recent years, as well as high-quality devices for enjoying music.
Apple has therefore acquired this brand, leading to speculation that the music sector will play an even more central role in the company’s future development plans than it does currently.
Beats Electronics launched its music streaming service in the United States just a few months ago, and this is undoubtedly what Apple’s headquarters focused on, rather than headphones or Bluetooth speakers.
As for the figures involved, Cupertino states that the acquisition cost $3 billion, of which $2.6 billion was in cash and $400 million in stock. This is the first time Apple has spent such significant amounts on an acquisition, making it clear that the operation was strongly desired and the brand is particularly valued.

Furthermore, the deal includes Jimmy Iovine (record producer) and Dr. Dre (rapper) – the two founders of Beats Electronics – joining Apple’s team responsible for developing projects related to all services in this specific sector.
Apparently, nothing will change regarding the products – particularly the headphones – as there has been a dedicated space for Beats Electronics and its items in Apple Stores for some time, and these are very likely to become even more cult items.
