With a decision never made before, it seems that the App Store will close for the Christmas holidays, but – let it be clear – only for developers who will not be able to launch new applications from December 23rd to 28th.

iTunes Connect for the App Store will be closed for holidays during the upcoming Christmas break: from December 23rd to 28th (inclusive), developers will not be able to upload new applications or update existing ones. It will also be impossible to change prices for apps already submitted and distributed before December 23rd, 2010, at least until the 29th.
However, nothing will change for users looking for free or paid apps: sales and download activities will be normally guaranteed.
This move has been particularly surprising because, in the history of Apple, it has never happened before that the classic “Closed for Holidays” sign was displayed, as can be seen from the photo accompanying this article.
For the record, while the news was released in America a few days ago, reporting the full text from the iOS Dev Center announcing the Christmas closure (as happened for example on the authoritative MacStories), the Apple press office in Italy – contacted during the drafting of this news – did not confirm such an event, not being aware of it.
We will follow the developments of this situation in the coming days; in the meantime, to avoid complications, developers are warned: it is better to launch applications or modifications before December 23rd.
