Amazon does not stop at ebook readers and tablets but seems to be about to enter the smartphone sector as well.
At home Amazon it seems that the excellent results achieved with the sale of its ebook readers and tablets are still not enough.
Apparently, in fact, an Amazon smartphone, ready to enter into sharp competition with other giants of the sector, will soon arrive.
A competition that, if it were to follow the history of the Kindle and the Kindle Fire, would primarily undermine sales records by playing on very competitive prices, yet combined with great quality.
The project of an Amazon smartphone is first reported by the news agency Bloomberg which, citing anonymous sources very close to the company, states that the production line would already have been started.
It seems indeed that inside the Chinese factories of Foxconn workers are already working on this new smartphone.
Those more versed in the sector cannot help but realize that Foxconn is precisely the same company that has already received orders from Apple and Microsoft.
At the same time, it is learned that Amazon is also sharpening its weapons regarding the patent issue, even hiring a patent acquisition specialist. Scenarios are therefore emerging that leave no doubts: surely something is brewing.
Naturally, it is too early to know the technical details of the smartphone that is only now starting to be talked about vaguely. What seems very likely is the presence of the Android operating system, since the Kindle Fire tablet is equipped with it.
However, it should be emphasized that, being an Amazon use behind but with strong customization, it is possible that the smartphone will also be oriented in this direction.
Instead, according to the currently circulating rumors, it does not seem possible that Amazon could decide to develop a proprietary system: it would not be very convenient either since potential future owners of the Amazon smartphone could already rely on the thousands of existing apps for the Android platform.
No other details are known: there is no hypothesis of a name, nor a presumed release date. And Amazon does not make any disclosures.
