Arrives, albeit with few salient novelties, the new Acer Iconia Tab A200: the tablet based on Android does not differ much from its predecessors. Here are its features and the price.
Acer has officially announced the release of its new tablet: it’s called Acer Iconia Tab A200 and it strongly resembles its bigger brother Acer Iconia Tab A500, which we have already covered.
The operating system chosen for the Iconia A200 è Android and specifically it is 3.2 Honeycomb: it’s not the latest version of Android, however the company states that by the first months of 2012 it will be possible to download the necessary update to move to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
From January onwards, however, Iconia A200 tablets already equipped with Android 4.0 will be sold.
Let’s move on to the other technical specifications which, as we said, do not represent an absolute novelty: the CPU features a Tegra 2 at 1 Ghz, with 1 GB of RAM support, while the storage capacity can be 8 GB or 16 GB.
The screen is a 10.1-inch multitouch (1280 x 800) and there is also a 2-megapixel webcam that can also serve as a camera, located on the front for video calls.
The dimensions of the Iconia A200 do not place it among the lightest and thinnest tablets, as it weighs a good 720 grams and measures 260 x 175 x 12.4 millimeters.
The good thing is that it is equipped with a standard USB port, so it can be easily connected to other peripherals without the need for adapters of any kind.
Connectivity ensured by GPS, WI-FI and Bluetooth support and the presence of the Acer Ring package, to smoothly use multitasking applications, multi-finger gestures, and advanced functions.
From a purely aesthetic point of view, the colors available for the shell are two: Titanium Gray and Metallic Red, as can be seen in the photos.
The price of the Acer Iconia Tab A200 has not yet been officially announced but a figure around 300 euros is hypothesized.
Finally, it should be specified that Acer has not yet released a country-by-country release schedule, so it is not yet possible to know when it will arrive in Italy.
