Acer Iconia Smart: price and features of the smartphone-tablet

Acer is betting on a smartphone with all the potential to make the leap to tablets: it’s the Acer Iconia Smart, large but manageable.

Acer has launched a new smartphone with tablet ambitions: it’s called Acer Iconia Smart and features a solid metal body and a design that doesn’t neglect aesthetics and elegance.
Its screen is particularly large for a smartphone: it’s a 4.8-inch 21:9 LED-backlit display that excels not so much (or not only) for browsing or gaming, but rather for watching movies.
It’s no coincidence that great emphasis has been placed on audio, with the Dolby Mobile system, to make every viewing experience more realistic and vibrant.
The processor used is a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 (1 GHz), which interacts with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.
The pre-installed operating system on this large smartphone is Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
The cameras on the Acer Iconia Smart are two: the front one is 2 megapixels, while the rear one is a full 8 megapixels.
Despite the large screen – which notoriously consumes a lot of battery – its battery life is satisfactory.
The six-axis gyroscope and accelerometer ensure fluid movement and rapid command reception.
The price of the Acer Iconia Smart is around 499 euros.
When considering a purchase, one must take into account that this is a smartphone not exactly suited for easily carrying in a pocket.
Given its features – and its hybrid nature, which Acer has indeed focused on in its communication – it strongly resembles the Acer Tab A100 tablet or (with due differences in size) the Acer Tab A500.
