Some time ago, we discussed the various attempts to jailbreak Windows Phone 7. Enthusiasts have been trying their best to gain free access to their devices, but according to some rumors, the practice of jailbreaking Windows Phone 7 might be on its last legs. Despite Microsoft’s initial willingness to open up to developers, it seems that strenuous efforts have been made at Microsoft’s headquarters to curb the jailbreak issue.
Apparently, the system vulnerability that has allowed users to modify Windows Phone 7 devices has now been discovered and “patched.”
Specifically, the ChevronWP7 tool – capable of performing jailbreaks – has effectively seen its capabilities halted, as the WP7 update is reportedly able to block this particular program, which is the most well-known and effective one.
This was announced by the creators themselves, Rafael Rivera and Chris Walsh, on the official ChevronWP7 blog, stating that the programming error exploited by ChevronWP7 will no longer function after the next Windows Phone 7 update.
