The iPad is the Apple device experiencing unprecedented sales, effectively opening the tablet market and establishing dominance. Even today, Black Friday 2010, the talk is all about the iPad, so much so that the Apple Store has put in place special offers for purchasing discounted iPads.
Only for today, a particularly anticipated shopping day in America that officially kicks off the Christmas gift hunt, the iPad is offered starting from 458 euros instead of 499 euros, but more generally, all iPad models will receive a 41 euro discount. Furthermore, shipping costs are free, not just for the iPad but for all items on this shopping day.
Although there are discounts within the Apple Store related to Black Friday on a large number of items, we’ve decided to focus more on the iPad because it is proving to be a true object of desire, even among unexpected age groups. It was reported just a few days ago that a significant number of American children between 6 and 12 years old have already explicitly requested the iPad as a Christmas gift, bypassing toys and video games.
This data emerges from a Nielsen research study which places the iPod Touch second on the list of most desired Christmas gifts, followed by gaming consoles such as Nintendo DS, PSP, and Xbox 360.
It’s a sign of the times: digital technology attracts even the youngest, and therefore it’s very likely that today, Black Friday 2010, the iPad will record noteworthy sales, at least in America.
