News for those who were waiting for an update from the Mozilla team regarding smartphone browsing: Firefox Mobile Release 4 Beta is currently available in its second version.
The second version of Firefox Mobile Release 4 Beta already stands out for its increased speed, also thanks to the lightweight nature of the software to install. Usable on both Nokia’s Maemo and Google Android, Firefox Mobile Release 4 Beta 2 also features a different, graphically speaking, interface. Another significant new feature is the reduction in memory usage, without neglecting the text rendering speed which shows an approximate +40% improvement.
All of this consequently leads to energy savings, benefiting smartphone battery life.
Firefox Mobile Release 4 Beta 2 is currently available in ten languages, has faster and more functional zoom to adapt to touchscreen needs, and appears to interact well with HTML5.
