PlayStation Vita is the new gaming console from Sony. The company has officially announced the price of PlayStation Vita and its market release date.
Sony is focusing on the mobile gaming experience with the presentation of PlayStation Vita, its brand new upcoming console.
The date to mark on your calendar for purchase is February 22, 2012, when this new PlayStation will arrive in European stores, accompanied by a decent number of games.
The complete list of titles is not yet known, but looking at the offering already available in Japan, it’s possible to note that there are already 80 games proposed for PlayStation Vita.
It is therefore reasonable to think that a similar number of games could also arrive in Europe.
PlayStation Vita will be distributed in two different models and therefore at two different prices: it will be possible to choose between PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi and PlayStation Vita 3G + Wi-Fi.
The dimensions are the same (182.0 x 18.6 x 83.5mm), the weight slightly different: the Wi-Fi version weighs 260 grams, while the 3G + Wi-Fi version weighs 279 grams.
It features two cameras, a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU, SGX543MP4+ GPU, and 512 MB of RAM and 128 MB of Video RAM.
Looking closely, more than a gaming console, PS Vita seems to resemble a smartphone, with connectivity capabilities and, above all, the prospect of eventually entering the mobile sector with a product different from the current global offering.
Perhaps the time is not yet right to talk about a true hybrid, but the foundation of the project has been laid.
The release of PlayStation Vita will miss the European Christmas shopping window, but not in Japan: here it will go on sale in December.
Regarding the prices in Europe, PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi will cost around 250 euros, while PlayStation Vita 3G + Wi-Fi will have a price of approximately 300 euros. or 299 euros.
