New 75″ Full Array LED 8K and 48″ OLED 4K TVs are added to the range, while Sony makes its most advanced technologies available to a wider line of models.
Sony Europe unveiled a wide range of innovative TVs at CES in Las Vegas, including the new Full Array LED 8K ZH8, 4K OLED A8 (55” and 65”) and A9 (48”), and Full Array LED 4K XH95 and XH90 models. The new TV line implements Sony’s best proprietary technologies to faithfully reproduce content creators’ intentions on screen. With this new range, Sony aims to offer the most immersive viewing experience on the market, with industry-leading picture quality, innovative audio, and a smooth user experience, all on large, premium screens.
Thanks to X1™ Ultimate, Sony’s most advanced image processor, the TVs deliver sharp, precise picture quality for maximum realism. Premium audio quality is an integral part of the entertainment experience, and the new models feature the Sound-from-Picture Reality™ system, which gives viewers the sensation that sound is coming directly from the screen.
The new models will continue to bring content creators’ intentions to life, thanks to Netflix Calibrated Mode, which guarantees studio-quality for Netflix content, and IMAX® Enhanced™ (on selected models), which brings the IMAX experience into the living room, offering a new level of image, sound, and power.
The new TVs are also equipped with Ambient Optimization, a new technology that optimizes picture and sound quality in any environment. The system automatically adjusts brightness based on room lighting, increasing it in bright rooms and reducing it in darker ones, to achieve perfect viewing. Ambient Optimization even detects objects in the room that may absorb or reflect sound, such as curtains and furniture, adjusting acoustics so as not to compromise sound reproduction.
Furthermore, the new TVs feature the new “Immersive Edge” design concept. To ensure an even more immersive viewing experience, the screens are equipped with a discreet, minimalist stand positioned at the edges of the screen, making it almost imperceptible, to offer viewers a better visual experience free from distracting elements.
And, in anticipation of the arrival of next-generation game consoles on the market, some of the new models support 8K resolution, high frame rate of 120 fps in 4K, and reduced response times via HDMI, guaranteeing maximum performance for a cutting-edge gaming experience.
Key Features of Sony’s New TV Range
New Frame Tweeter on ZH8: for maximum immersion, the model features optimized picture quality, a slim design, and the Sound-from-Picture Reality™ system with Sony’s new Frame Tweeter technology, which vibrates the TV frame to emit sound, giving viewers the sensation that the audio is coming directly from the screen.
X-Motion Clarity for OLED: this revolutionary and highly acclaimed Sony technology, among the most advanced in its class, will now be available on OLEDs: it refines on-screen action in real-time, with incredible refresh rates, making it brighter, smoother, and sharper than ever, for an unprecedented sports viewing experience.
X-Wide Angle Expansion: X-Wide Angle technology generates realistic and vivid colors from any angle, better preserving tones and brightness compared to conventional LED TVs. This allows for optimal picture quality, with incredible range and depth from any point in the room. To offer even more choice to customers, the Full Array LED 4K XH95 TV will be available with X-Wide Angle in 55” and larger versions.
Full Array LED Expansion: Sony’s Full Array Local Dimming technology dynamically adjusts screen brightness levels in sections based on content, offering a significant increase in contrast and brightness. Thanks to accurate balancing of light emission on the screen, darker and brighter scenes are further enhanced in line with content creators’ intentions. This premium option will now also be available on an additional Full Array LED 4K series called XH90.
Backlit Remote Control: you can now enjoy the entertainment experience even in very dark environments, thanks to the premium backlit aluminum remote control of the ZH8 and XH95.
Android TV™: The new range will be based on Android TV and will integrate Google Assistant[1], Google Play Store, and Chromecast, offering users easy access to content, services, and devices through their extensive platform. In addition, Sony’s menu user interface and voice controls have been improved for simpler daily use. Enhanced voice control functions will allow users to access live TV events, apps, and connected devices by speaking directly to the TV[2].
Voice Commands2: Sony TVs with voice activation interface with Google Assistant to offer an increasingly “smart” viewing experience. You can ask Google Assistant to search for current blockbusters, stream broadcasts, open “multiplayer” gaming sessions, dim lights via connected home devices, manage your schedule and view your calendar, ask questions, and see answers directly on the TV.
