The OnePlus X smartphone is here: the price and features of the two different versions have been officially announced.
After a considerable wait, the OnePlus X has been officially presented, the new smartphone obtainable only by invitation.
Just like its more famous predecessor, in fact, this time the sales channel chosen was “reserved,” meaning no mass distribution in physical stores but activating the invitation procedure.
The strong point of the device is its affordable price, combined with a more than good configuration. This time, moreover, the manufacturer has paid particular attention to the design, thus offering higher quality finishes compared to the past.
There are two optional versions:
- Onyx: made of glass (weighing 138 grams)
- Ceramic: made of ceramic (weighing 160 grams).
In both cases, however, the body is “framed” by brushed anodized metal.
Now let’s look at the technical specifications of the OnePlus X: the processor is a quad-core Snapdragon 801, with 3 GB of RAM, while the internal memory is 16 GB.
The operating system is proprietary: its name is Oxygen OS, based on Android version 5.1.1 Lollipop.
The display is 5 inches, AMOLED Full HD type, with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and 441 ppi.
The main camera is 13 megapixels while the front camera is 8 megapixels: a good photographic setup.
Very interesting is the possibility of using it with a dual SIM (provided they are nano SIM) or, using the configuration of these slots, one could also decide to insert one SIM and a microSD card up to a maximum of 128 GB.
Connectivity modules are GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and also LTE.
To complete the configuration, it ends with a 2,525 mAh battery.
What is missing, however – and what most recent devices are starting to consider standard – is the fingerprint reader: there is no trace of it.
Regarding the price of the OnePlus X, you will have to choose based on the type of material preferred for the smartphone:
- OnePlus X Onyx will cost 269 euros;
- OnePlus X Ceramic will cost 369 euros.
The first available purchase date will be November 5th, but only by invitation.
Episodically – more or less on a monthly basis – the company will open “time windows” during which anyone can proceed with the purchase, even without an invitation.
