Despite the acquisition of WhatsApp, Facebook has never stopped refining its instant messaging application. In fact, Facebook Messenger has effectively become mandatory for exchanging private messages on Facebook between friends when using the app via smartphone or tablet.
The social network’s staff clearly continues to focus on Messenger, and today it is learned – unofficially – that a new feature may soon appear.
Andrew Aude, a computer science student at Stanford University, has in fact attempted to “dissect” the Facebook Messenger app (iOS version) using a program that is very likely unauthorized. However, this allowed him to discover the existence of a specific functionality that could soon enable the exchange of money between friends.
Constine has obtained screenshots from which it can be deduced that the transfer of money between users occurs completely free of charge and – apparently – using only debit cards.
There is no trace of the possibility of using credit cards, nor, for that matter, the very popular PayPal payment system.
Naturally, given that this is essentially a sort of leak and, above all, a version under development and still evolving, these are aspects that could be completely modified in the final version.
Obviously, with all these necessary premises taken into account, it is not yet possible to even hypothesize a launch period for a novelty of this magnitude.
The mere existence of a study on the matter certainly does not guarantee its actual implementation and release.
From Facebook’s headquarters, on the other hand, there has been no comment in this regard: there is no denial, nor a confirmation.
Certainly, the novelty would be decidedly interesting as it would allow exchanges of money between contacts in a truly very quick and simple way.
