Sony is launching a new experiment: it will be possible to **play in streaming** with the videogame of the moment, without needing the console.
Sony’s future in the gaming sector may no longer be focused on developing new game consoles.
It is learned that starting Thursday, July 31st, the company will launch a kind of experiment only in the United States and Canada.
Gamers will be able to test a new game streaming system, without necessarily owning a console.
Not only will you no longer have to buy a PlayStation, but you won’t even have to buy the game you’re interested in.
Everything will be available in the cloud and can be used at your leisure, at any time of day, from any type of device.
All this without losing quality and being able to use it for as long as you wish to pay the subscription to the service or the necessary price to rent the relevant title.
To start the experiment, the novelty will naturally be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Ps Vita. The real novelty, however, is that even Sony’s Bravia TVs can be used right away for playing in streaming, without a connected console.
Everything will go through your home connection, so it needs to be particularly stable and ensure a certain speed to avoid interruptions in the game at a crucial moment.
While the scenario of gaming without consoles may be quite realistic, considering this move by Sony, it must be said that it is unlikely that consoles will disappear completely, at least not in the short term.
Even the mere fact of network coverage not always being optimal should not lead manufacturers to abandon console development plans.
Rather, after experimenting not only with the gaming result but also with the completely new business model for this sector, it is likely that we will move towards a phase where you can freely start a game on the console, continue it on your smartphone, and finish it on the TV.
Sony’s new streaming video game service will also arrive in Europe and Japan, but not before 2015.
