Blackphone is a new Android smartphone that prevents surveillance: presentation expected soon. Here’s an introductory video to the device.
CES 2014 has concluded, and the focus is shifting to the next major event for new smartphones and tablets: with Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona approaching, various previews from participating manufacturers are beginning to surface.
It has come to light that the Spanish company Geeksphone and the Swiss company Silent Circle will present BlackPhone, a new smartphone designed to be uninterceptable.
Proof against spies and eavesdroppers, this device will run on the Android operating system, enhanced with a specific build named PrivatOS.
It is precisely this unique version of the OS that will manage calls and SMS, making every communication encrypted and therefore uninterceptable.
The network connection will also be anonymous and protected, just as the file saving system will be privacy and security-proof.
The two companies that have jointly developed this anti-surveillance smartphone have not released further details regarding the device’s specifications and technical features.
A complete picture will only emerge at Mobile World Congress 2014, when, very likely, details about release dates, distribution, and especially the price of Blackphone will be discussed.
On the official website blackphone.ch, it is possible to read that pre-orders will begin immediately after the Barcelona presentation, but in the meantime, you can leave your email address to be notified about details and news.
Here is an explanatory video of the project, featuring some partial images of BlackPhone.
