What is Polaroid’s Socialmatic? Here’s a new concept camera, arriving soon.
The new camera made by Polaroid is about to arrive: it’s called Socialmatic Camera – better known simply as “Socialmatic” – and it will reach markets, apparently, during March 2014.
The project to build this particular camera dates back a few years, but as we understand it, the time is ripe to introduce this product to the market.
Polaroid’s Socialmatic will integrate Instagram into a camera, allowing for precise shots, instant photo printing, and at the same time, virality and social sharing.
For a few days now, hypotheses have taken shape, and Polaroid has released the technical details of this new product: Socialmatic will have a 14-megapixel sensor as its main camera.
However, there will also be a second camera, located on the back of the device, with a 2-megapixel sensor.
A 4.3-inch touchscreen display will allow for optimal use of Socialmatic, and inside, there will be an integrated Zink Instant Printer.
It will have 4 GB of internal memory natively, instead of the 16 GB previously rumored; however, the company states that they decided to include an SD card slot.
There’s also an LED flash, two stereo speakers, and modules for GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Further confirmations are awaited regarding the price of Socialmatic: this detail has not been revealed, but various rumors point to a figure of $299.
