While much speculation continues around rumors of the next iPhone – likely called iPhone 5S – Apple has instead surprised everyone by launching a new iPod model.
The new low-cost 16 GB iPod Touch has indeed been quietly added to the Cupertino company’s catalog: a lower storage capacity compared to recent iPods and some “cut” features, allowing for a more affordable product to be introduced to the market.
Although it features the Retina Display (still 4 inches), the previous processor (dual-core A%), and the 1.2-megapixel front camera for FaceTime functionality, it lacks, for example, the rear camera, the 5-megapixel one that is present on previous models.
There is also no attachment point that allows the iPod to be worn on the wrist via a lanyard.
All of this, however, reduces the price, effectively making the device low-cost: the price of the 16 GB iPod Touch is 249 euros, including Apple EarPods.
There is only one color available, which is gray, for an elegant and basic design, in a slim and attractive body.
