Apple admits that its systems may have suffered a hacker attack in the last few hours. The situation is under control and a security update for Mac will be released shortly.
In recent days, several large companies in the social media and IT sectors have announced that their systems have been attacked by hackers.
The latest reported case was Facebook: the staff working on security announced that there was indeed an illicit intrusion into their systems, although subscriber data was not stolen.
The news, just a few hours old, reports that Apple also allegedly suffered an attack perhaps by the same hackers who in recent days have been carrying out several “heists”.
The Cupertino-based company has indeed admitted that a sophisticated malware designed specifically to target Macs managed to infiltrate the system.
Apparently, the malicious code was uploaded by its creators to a website dedicated to developers and frequented by Apple employees.
From there – exploiting the now-known Java bug that is providing the access key to all systems targeted by this organized group – the malware gained access to some company PCs.
Apple reassures everyone, stating that the affected PCs were few and all within their offices, therefore the threat was recognized in time to block it and prevent its propagation.
However, it has been announced from Apple’s laboratories that an update will be released in the coming hours to protect Macs from the isolated threat.
This is the first time Apple has been attacked by hackers in this way, but apparently the situation has already been contained and addressed.
Certainly, the company did not let itself be caught unprepared and is overcoming the impasse by providing concrete tools to prevent potential contagion.
