Sony also took advantage of IFA 2012 to unveil all its upcoming releases, among which the new Sony Xperia Tablet S decidedly stands out.
The new Sony-branded tablet will run the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, but potential buyers can count on a subsequent update already scheduled: the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will soon be released.
Regarding the operating system, we find the 1.4 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core microprocessor, promising speed and power.
The RAM is 1 GB, while the internal memory will have various capacities: 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. In all cases, it will be possible to expand the memory via microSD card.
The screen is large and bright, being a 9.4-inch IPS with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.
Among the various “classic” functions one might expect from a tablet, the ability to use the device like a remote control is noteworthy, thanks to the infrared sensor and the possibility of selecting TV programs to recall quickly.
The arrival of the Sony Xperia Tablet S in Italy is expected in mid-September, accompanied by a series of original accessories already announced: adapters, a case with a portable keyboard, a charging dock, screen protectors, a speaker dock, a tabletop stand, and a three-station docking station have been confirmed.
Regarding the price of the Sony Xperia Tablet S, in Italy, the tablet will cost 399 euros for the 16 GB Wi-Fi version.
The other prices have not yet been officially announced, but it is known that the top-of-the-line model – 64 GB – will cost 599 dollars in America.
