Canon has issued a series of recalls for some Canon Powershot S100 cameras: here’s how to find out if your digital camera also needs to be returned to the company.

Canon always produces excellent products, but it can happen that a production batch may have some issues: apparently, this is what is happening with some units of the Canon Powershot S100.
The company has decided to issue an official recall because it appears there are some problems with the lens: specifically, a component of it tends to detach from the rest of the unit.
This occurs under certain climatic conditions: when the camera is in particularly humid locations or when it is subjected to high temperatures.
This compromises the final result of the photo, which consequently turns out to be of poor quality.
The defect is not generalized across the entire production but only affects a specific batch, as specified by Canon itself: “the first and second digits of the camera’s serial number are any number from 29 to 41” and the following example is given: “29xxxxxxxxxx”, “30xxxxxxxxxx”…”41xxxxxxxxxx”, as reported on Canon’s official notice page.
Regardless of whether the Canon Powershot S100 with one of these serial numbers is under warranty or not, Canon is committed to repairing defective cameras completely free of charge.
