Exactly as anticipated on FullPress a few days ago, Google Drive has been launched by Google. Big G’s cloud storage project has therefore seen the light, fulfilling the promise to provide 5 GB of free space to everyone.
It is only natural to see this as an open challenge to similar services, among which Dropbox decidedly stands out: if the latter offers 3 GB, Google Drive makes its debut with an extra 2 GB for free.
Concurrently with the service’s launch, which – let’s recall – allows you to store any type of file and search for it very easily, the prices for additional GB that you might need have also been officially announced.
It is therefore possible to increase the maximum storage threshold to 25 GB by paying $2.49 per month (for a total of $29.88 annually) or, for $4.99 per month, you will be entitled to 100 GB of cloud space ($59.88 for one year).
If, however, you expect to need much more space, Google offers the option to purchase 1 TB for $49.99 per month, amounting to an annual expense of $599.88.
Not inexpensive, it is undeniable, especially in light of the fact that prior to the launch of Google Drive, Google’s prices were very different: $0.25 per year for each GB needed, which, when all is said and done, amounts to no more than $5 per year for 20 GB extra, for example.
Those who have purchased one of these packages in the past can consider themselves lucky because for the moment these conditions will remain unchanged.
Those who are preparing to make a purchase from today onwards, however, will need to consider the new Google Drive prices.
Google points out that for Google Drive upgrades, you will also receive extra space in Gmail: each time you will have an additional 25 GB available in your email inbox.
