One of the new arrivals in Nikon’s Coolpix lineup is the Nikon Coolpix S8200, small, compact, manageable, yet very powerful.
It features a 16-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS image sensor, but the other strong point is the NIKKOR 14x superzoom with wide-angle coverage: this latter feature makes it ideal for shooting landscapes or subjects at a great distance, with results that would hardly make you think of such a simple yet high-performing compact camera.
It is also possible to capture full HD (1080p) movies with stereo audio.
Much attention has been paid to lighting: numerous features for photos in all lighting conditions, even in low light and even without necessarily resorting to a tripod.
This is also possible, in part, thanks to the motion blur reduction technology, which consists of four steps for sharp and stable images.
Speed – both for shooting and recording – also plays its part, allowing for consecutive shots at a rate of 6 fps.
Portrait features deserve a separate mention: in addition to the Intelligent Portrait system (which checks when the subject laughs and when they keep their eyes open), there’s the red-eye correction function and the soft skin effect, to even out the complexion of the subject.
