Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A1 is the new tablet in the “rugged mobile computing” segment, recently unveiled by the company but not launching immediately: to purchase one, you’ll need to wait until the first few months of 2012.
While no specific date has been set, it’s possible to outline the initial profile of this tablet, suitable for professional use, even in demanding environmental conditions.
It’s ideal for mounting on vehicle cradles, for example, making it a tablet designed for professionals who are on the move and need a digital ally.
Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A1 features a 10-inch screen diagonal and a particularly robust casing resistant to dust, scratches, water, and drops.
It includes CPU security core and a processor designed to ensure data security.
As a device intended for extended mobile use, the battery promises an impressive 10 hours of operational time. For such intensive use, the possibility of battery replacement has also been considered from the outset.
Regarding connectivity, the technical sheet highlights standard Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, and optional GPS and 3G mobile broadband technology (pricing varies according to this configuration), with download speeds up to 21Mb/s.
A capacitive stylus is also included in the package.
The price of the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-A1 is 999 euros + VAT for the 3G model, while the base version will be available for purchase at 850 euros + VAT.
It’s still early to discuss, but in the second half of 2012, a more compact version of this tablet with a 7-inch diagonal will also be released. However, the price for this model has not yet been announced.
